The Score is Four to Four

I hadn’t introduced the mother before this, as Dara was living with her owner, Randall, in sunny California. I can’t even begin to tell you the history of “Princess Chompy” who ruled with boundless energy and absolute confidence in herself–aided by the adoration of her Airedale escort, Max, and perhaps, a slightly indulgent level of “daddy’s girl” status! Here is the story of Dara, aka CH Seneca Dara Seans, X-ray prelims complete, OFA pending: The story before she arrived with info about her parents who were a special blend of German import and working lines with US conformation, HERE. For the story of her puppyhood, check the page HERE.

Dara was a Midwest kind of girl and Randal decided to have her return to her origins to show for the AKC Championship–which she did in great style, quickly and including winning at the Gateway Terrier Specialty at the Purina Farms in Missouri! For Dara’s mate, we looked long and hard but found that the answer was clear. Now allow me to introduce the daddy of the litter:

CH Darbywood’s Baraboo of Singing Hills, RN2544602, PennHip 65th percentile

“Bear” as they call him, lives in North Carolina. Bear won BOS at the national specialty weekend of the Airedale Terrier Club of America in Montgomery, PA with over 100 Airedales entered. I’m proud to have spotted the potential of this young dog two months before his big win!

The paternal grandsire is well known:

CH. Tierra De Churubusco y Chubasco

AKC RN17070404
OFA Hips Good (AT-4909G24M-VPI)
Penn Hip 80th Percentile

and the paternal granddam:

The puppies are due in mid August and so begins the heart of our tale! On Sunday, August 13th, Dara was restless at 11 pm and scratched a little but settled down quietly for the rest of the night. I sleep closely to an mother near term and we went outside at 6 am on Monday, August 14, 2023, for a potty break. All was normal and Dara ate a full breakfast at 7:30 am. However, at 9:40, she was in full blown labor with rapid delivery from 11 to just after noon and here’s the full count.

10:00 a.m.Pink – female 9.5 ounces
11:03 a.m.Blue – male10.6
11:08 a.m.Teal – male 8.5
11:15 a.m.Yellow – female 7.9
12:12 p.m.Coral – female 8.0
1:45 p.m.Purple- male11.0
2:44 p.m.Scarlet- female 9.3
3:25 p.m.Silver – male 9.6
Here we are below, getting ready and newly arrived! Naturally, I continue to sleep very near these little ones. Dara is a good mom with a generous milk supply and they gain weight quickly. All they do is eat and grow–and grow they do!

For the first week, we had fun with our Box O’Pups pics but then they filled the box!

Next we eight became too much for mom to handle feeding by 3 weeks old so the puppy food began to supplement our nursing. We also broke out of the whelping box and started to play with everything in reach!

What’s the baby formula recipe? Bil-Jac (a frozen raw natural food–very highly digestible, and Nature’s Pharmacy “Puppy-Bac” milk formula with vitamins, minerals and probiotics. It’s the best for our babies!

At the tender age of 5 weeks, we eight began to explore the outdoors, with mom and with supervision…and playing outside is very tiring!

More news as we progress. I have more pictures to work on and to take too–every day!
