Yearling Airedale Available–Now Placed

I am posting this as a favor to my friend who lives near Springfield, IL:
My name is Jean McCoy,  and I have Maggie, (14 month old female)… My asking price is 1,600.00. My price includes spaying.  I would like to place her in a good pet home.
Maggie is house broken to ring a bell on our door to go out, and did great without the bell in the motel while I was visiting Nancy this past weekend.
I followed a routine, and we had no accidents. Maggie has had some manners training. She likes chew toys and leaves my shoes alone. She sleeps in a crate in our bed room, and I put her in the crate when I leave the house to run errands.
I will be glad to tell you more if you think you might be interested in giving her a good home.

Wave Good-bye!

Introducing the Class of December (II), 2015

… And now to introduce our four boys as individuals!

First up is Blue. He is a potential Champion and obedience competitor in the making. If anyone has an interest in dog sports, this little guy could really go places with  you! Blue has a build that hits all the points a judge would be looking for while he has a strong social desire to please and to retrieve–all very important for any type of training.

Teal is also a really nice outgoing guy like Blue with perhaps a bit more cuddle factor. He’s also extra good looking! Check out those eyes in the post bath photo!

Purple is perhaps the stockiest, more deeply chested boy and also a cuddler. I keep wanting to call him “Rocky” after the boxer because of the photo with the towel over his head–He’s a ‘contenda!’ (Note: this little guy does NOT have both testicles descended at this moment in time. That could change, but if it doesn’t, it will cost extra at the time he is neutered.)

Introducing the Class of December (I), 2015

Starting with the girls, we offer this series of photos to show their individual personalities all at 7 weeks:

This is Gold, a little girl with mostly cuddling on her mind. She is sweet and affectionate with just a smidge of doing things *her* way! (Note: she does have a tiny umbilical hernia that has already closed on its own, probably a birth injury. My vet indicates this does not result in a health concern.)

Next up, is Pink….a little bit of a princess. She is my next generation so that everybody can call to see if our puppies are all growing at the same rate and getting into the same kinds of trouble. Yes, I’m keeping Pink.

Here’s our Red ribbon girl. She’s moderately active and very affectionate but more perky. She is a very good candidate for obedience, rally, or Therapy Dog training due to her inquisitive nature and sociable nature!

I’m following up with the fourth girl, White. She’s quiet and rather calm yet still with her terrier mischief to express.

Having A BIG Week….

Yes siree BOB! Today the puppies did all of the following:

  • Got their first ever bath!
  • Got to play outside a bit after getting dry
  • Got group, bath, and individual shots taken!

Let’s just skip straight to the photos!

Then, fully dry, the APU (Airedale Puppies United) hit the field for a little practice time! Notice how they are logging some air time while others sit it out on the wooly bed…boot climbing and toy carrying are popular too!

We Are Working Hard….

Yup, I am *so* very late to get my next posting up. But if you’ll accept some really good excuses, here’s what I’ve got so far:

  • Pedigree is researched and getting its last review for 5 generations
  • Puppies have gotten the first vaccination in their puppy series
    • Remember that this series ends with the first one-year rabies vaccination at 16 weeks and the last of the distemper combination boosters.
  • Yesterday was sunny and everybody got to go outside for the first time–YAY! They found it is a big wide world out there.
  • Together we’ve done the first conformation evaluation and we have everybody embodying the best characteristics of the breed, attractive looks, and some of each sex that can go on to be champions!

While I get some photos together, please enjoy the latest shots of daddy, Bear. Did we mention that we’re so proud of him for his win at the National Specialty in October?

Graduation and Four Weeks Old

The APU (Airedale Puppies United) is now playing on a bigger field! I put down a great dish of food then ran to get the camera. I came back with it right away but the food had disappeared!

Three Weeks Old…Score! (Will Play For Food, That Is….!)

Our APU team, that’s Airedale Puppies United to everyone who has been watching their new season, have started in on REAL food! They highly approve of this new development, along with eyes and ears now in full use, as well as vocal cords! Yes, we hear yips, growls, and every little noise they can make as they learn to speak “dog.”

The cuteness rating has gone through the roof this week! What could be cuter than two puppies that might weigh 2 pounds each tussling with each other? Play has been added the the previous favorites of eating and sleeping. Of course, they have a tendency to decide that Mom should visit them at about 2 am each night and sing a chorus of discontent until she does. You know, these guys are right next to the bedroom, so we know all their moves!

Week Three is also important as they have had the first mild preventative worming medication too. We like to set them up for a great first season!

Why is it so important to start food now at 21 days old? Well, consider this: Reddi weighs about 45 pounds and only needs about 3 cups of food per day to take care of her own needs. The puppies weigh about 2.5 pounds each and are rapidly gaining. So times the number of puppies gives us more than 20 pounds of puppies, almost half of Reddi’s body weight to support just through milk?!? That’s a lot of milk!  Reddi has been eating about 8 cups of densely nutritious foods every day plus drinking more than a gallon of water. The puppies demand just a little more each and every day then they did the day before. So–yes, we’re helping. Reddi sees them a lot and is very very happy to clean up any puppy food they miss! Then she cleans every puppy too!

Two Weeks Old….all members of the APU (Airedale Puppies United)

Well, doesn’t eight make a team in soccer? I could be wrong about the sports but they do EVERYTHING together.

Reddi, the mother is devoted and attentive to them and produces sufficient milk to keep them all happy so far. Very soon they will be so big that Reddi will need some help beyond the high quality Best Breed diet that I have been just about shoveling in to her to keep up with the physical demands that all this mothering requires.
